Well, now that we've caught your attention with a very significant subject, we want to help you put a few budgetary things in perspective. For virtually all weddings held anywhere in the world, there are really only a few minimum requirements to celebrate a wedding ceremony, namely:

  1. A Marriage Licence issued by the jurisdiction;
  2. Two witnesses (usually), and
  3. A legally authorized wedding officiant or minister

That's it!

Nothing else is legally essential for you to complete your wedding. Everything else you do to celebrate your wedding is purely discretionary. Even your rings are just an option!

For any wedding taking place in a private location, such as a home, backyard, cottage, etc., if you want something more than another cookie cutter type ceremony, you should secure the services of a professional wedding officant as soon as you know the possible dates. For most weddings that will involve a reception in some commercial facility, we strongly recommend that you line up your preferred wedding officiant immediately after you've booked the hall or location of your choice. In fact, if you're undecided about the pros and cons of possible ceremony venues, talk to us first before you lock yourself into a choice fraught with unexpected complications.

Aside from some very informal wedding ceremonies conducted at homes and cottages, one of the least expensive ceremonies was for a young couple who didn't even have any witnesses. Since they planned to celebrate afterwards with a good meal, we arranged for them to be married in an elegant intimate restaurant which was closed for the ceremony. The manager and waiter served as witnesses and after a great dining experience, I'm sure that they were well tipped too.

As for the other end of the spectrum, you know that the sky's the limit. And all of this is just to say that when you're paying top dollar to get the quality of services you require for all of the other elements of your celebration, you don't have to be a Queen's graduate to understand that trying to find the lowest priced officiant available isn't really such a brilliant move. Invest just a little bit more and get an exceptional difference that will have your guests raving about your wedding ceremony for years to come.

How can paying just a bit more can actually save you money, time and stress? We can help you save on most expenses by providing guidance to you on where you can obtain high quality services at a value rate. For example, most couples who obtain their marriage license in Ottawa pay $145 yet we can advise where the same licence can be acquired for $75.

If you really want to save, use our Wedding Advisory Service, prior to commiting to any of the major vendors you are considering. Benefit from our experience and save time, money and stress as we help you shortlist only the top performers who can make your wedding visions come true on the budget you have to work with. For those considering an outdoor wedding, we can point you to an elegant facility with extraordinary gardens and a massive tent and hardwood floor already installed which rents for less than half the cost of installing your own rental tent anywhere else. And you can bring in your own bar/liquor and caterers as well. And it has real washrooms, not port-a-potties which you would also have to rent! Just think of what a positive difference this would make to your budget and the experience of your guests. As so it goes with all of the other vendors of gowns, venues, musicians, photographers, limos, flowers, invitations, etc; we can help you select the best for your budget.

For those couple who want a romantic ceremony in a destination location or on a cruise ship, we can provide you with several options which will both save you substantially over the extremely high cost of these weddings while giving you full control over the content, location, and length of your ceremony, something the cruise lines and resorts don't offer. And all of our options let you have your ceremony in the language of your choice and are offer you the legal protections of being registered in Ontario, not Liberia, Panama or some other obscure foreign jurisdiction.
