Sometimes a couple want to have both a male and female officant perform their ceremony as is shown in the photo above where both Lynne and Keith conducted a bilingual wedding ceremony (on a boat at that!).

In other situations, there is a very special family member or friend that couples might wish to take a lead role in performing their wedding ceremony. Sometimes, it is a cleric from another country or jurisdiction and they lack the legal authority to conduct ceremonies in Ontario. In other situations, the ceremony is being performed in an exotic destination location where the cost of bringing in the local officiant means sacrificing their control of the content and delivery of their ceremony.

One example of this was a large inter-cultural wedding where the groom's godfather, a Hindu priest from the USA, was able to lead a traditional ceremony for the 250+ guests while Lynne and Keith integrated a brief civil ceremony about 90 minutes into the Hindu ceremony which satisfied the bride's family's desire for balance. This both eliminated the need for an additional ceremony and yet still ensured the desired participation of the godfather as the honoured celebrant.
